SOCCER MOMMY (Lisbon)

Sophie Allison has always written candidly about her life, making Soccer Mommy one of the most interesting and beloved indie rock artists of the past decade. Allison used Soccer Mommy’s songs as a vehicle to address the thoughts and encounters that inevitably come with the reality of growing up. It began as a home recording exercise for Bandcamp, sharing her melancholic songs as demos. Over the years she has refined her sound, taking advantage of the endless production possibilities now at her fingertips to push past singer-songwriter stereotypes, making each Soccer Mommy record always a surprise.

On her fourth album, the tender but determined Evergreen, Allison is back to writing about her life. But that life is different now: Since the release of her previous album, 2022’s Always Forever, Allison has experienced deep and very personal loss. New songs emerged from these changes, from relentless and sometimes even funny reflections on how I was feeling. These songs were, once again, Allison's way of coping with life, of standing her ground. Allison wanted them to sound like that too, to be as close to the demos as possible: raw, relatable and honest.
